The Ralph's Christmas "year in review"

2023

An amazing year for travel and adventure.

2022

Considering everything that happened in the previous 2 years, 2022 was a pretty good year.

2020

Here's a glimpse of 2020 - a good year, even though there were bits many of us would rather forget.

YouTube and websites never forget, so here are most of the videos etc. from previous years back to 2006:

2009

I sent the following text with the email announcing the 2009 video:

What an amazing 2009 we’ve had!

On the family front Lachlan and Liz and Anja and Dallas have both, as couples, made use of the Federal Government’s first home owners’ grants to set themselves up with home units in Kensington and Dee Why respectively. Rohan is building his own small business and when he’s not doing that he’s riding his new KX250F motorcycle and planning overseas holidays.

In September Jacqui and I visited the USA and Canada. We stopped off at the striking Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks before Jacqui attended a conference on roadkill (what else) in Duluth MN. While Jacqui was conferencing Ian rented a Harley Davidson and rode around Minnesota for 4 days in the company of Dan, a Minnesota resident and fellow Suzuki GS fanatic.

After the conference Melanie (Jacqui’s sister) and her husband Dave showered us with the warmest hospitality in their home in Calgary before taking us on a 4 day road trip to view the incredible beauty of the Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper areas in the Rocky Mountains. The scenery is truly stunning and while we didn’t see any bears we were treated to close-ups of moose and mountain sheep. The weather was best described as balmy so it’s hard to imagine what it’s like to live through a winter where the temperature gets as low as -47F as it did in Edmonton, not far from Calgary, in early December this year.

Jacqui’s roadkill prevention committee’s work was recognized winning 2 NSW Landcare awards – first prize in the people’s choice award and 3rd prize in the urban landcare category. Jacqui and the committee were further publicized though several radio interviews and a 10 minute spot on ABC TV’s Stateline program.

Best wishes for a happy Christmas and healthy and prosperous 2010
